Marianne gained her first degree at Dundee University in Sports Biomedicine and went on to study Physiotherapy as a Masters Degree at Queen Elizabeth University in Edinburgh. Once graduated she spent time working as a physiotherapist in the NHS rotating through different specialties such as neurological physiotherapy, surgical wards & ICU, as well as community. At this time, she also worked as a physiotherapist alongside a rugby club, providing evening weekday clinics and physiotherapy matchday cover.
She then moved into private physiotherapy practice where she specialised in her passion, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, and has been working in this area since. During her time as a physiotherapist she has developed strong interests in the rehabilitation of neck & back pain, shoulder pain, hip pain and sporting injuries.
She is passionate about combining a ‘hands on’ approach to physiotherapy treatment with rehabilitation exercises for home to give her patients an active role in their recovery. Marianne strives to continually develop her clinical reasoning skills by attending complementary physiotherapy courses such as a recent paediatric physiotherapy course. Additionally, Marianne has attended APPI training for Pilates, allowing her to lead classes and implement exercises into physiotherapy rehab programs.
In her own time, Marianne likes to keep fit by practising Pilates regularly. She likes to run and has completed two marathons for charity, as well as multiple half marathons. Because of this, she can appreciate the toll training takes on your body and mind, and the importance of staying injury-free in the run up to these events.
